Behind every good plan there are people. That's why AgendaLocal isn't just an events calendar: it's also a small social network for your area, where you can meet people who share your tastes and enjoy your hobbies with them.
Your profile, your introduction
It all starts with your profile. You can personalise it so others know who you are and what drives you:
- A profile photo.
- A short bio to tell your story.
- Your favourite categories, to connect with people who share your interests.
- And, if you want, your date of birth (optional and with controlled privacy).
You decide how much you show: each profile can be public or visible only to your friends. The control is always yours.
Following, being friends… and the difference between them
AgendaLocal distinguishes two levels of relationship, just like in real life:
- Following someone is like glancing at what they're up to: you're interested in their activity, with no further commitment.
- Being friends is mutual: you send a request, the other person accepts it, and from then on you have a trusted bond that unlocks things like private messages.
Talk privately (with whoever you choose)
When two people are friends, they can send each other private messages within the platform. It's the natural way to arrange a meet-up, organise a plan or simply chat. And because messages are reserved for confirmed friends, you're spared unwanted mail from strangers.
Is someone making you uncomfortable? You can block them, and the block does a full clean-up: it undoes the friendship, removes the follows and cuts off messages. Your space, your rules.
Find your people in the directory
How do you come across like-minded people? In the user directory you can search by name or bio —without worrying about accents— and filter by city to focus on people in your area. It's the perfect starting point for widening your local circle.
Follow what your people are up to
When you follow people, their plans stop slipping past you: you have a list of events from the people you follow in your followed events. Ideal for keeping up with what that acquaintance who always finds the best plans is signing up for.
Take the first step
A complete profile is what makes people want to connect with you. Give it two minutes:
Complete your profile and start connecting.
And how do you switch on messaging, the attendee list or invitations? With the social role. We'll explain it in the next article.
