Not every plan is for everyone. A members' assembly, a club get-together, a members-only event… For those cases AgendaLocal introduces private events: plans that only people registered on the platform can see, never anonymous visitors or internet search engines.
One box, and done
Making an event private is no mystery. When you create or edit it, you'll see a "Private event" checkbox. Tick it and that's it: that plan becomes visible only to logged-in users.
As the event's author, the decision is 100% yours, and you can switch it on or off whenever you like.
What "private" means exactly
When an event is private, it stays off the public radar. Specifically:
- It doesn't appear to anyone who isn't logged in: if an anonymous visitor tries to open it, they can't see it.
- It doesn't show up in the search or on the map for the general public.
- It isn't included in the weekly newsletter.
- It isn't indexed in the site's sitemap for search engines like Google.
On the other hand, anyone registered on AgendaLocal can indeed see it and sign up. That's the line that separates "private" from "public": it's not an individual invitation, it's "only for the platform's community".
What's it for?
Private events are a perfect fit when you want to organise something without opening it up to the whole internet:
- Activities for members of an association or club.
- Get-togethers of a group that already knows each other.
- Plans you'd rather keep discreet but easy to manage.
The same convenience, with more control
Best of all, a private event is still a normal event: it has its page, its dates, its map, and registered people can say they're going just like on any other. You gain privacy without losing any of AgendaLocal's conveniences.
Tip: if your plan really is for everyone, leave it public so it reaches as many people as possible. Save private mode for what you genuinely want to keep within the community.
